Went to the loj for the second time with NUHOC. I love the mountains of New Hampshire. I am going to move there just for the mountains. I used to wonder why my parents are in professions where they don't make a whole lot of money, but now I am beginning to see why. They both have jobs involving nature, where they don't spend a whole day in an office or a lab. I mean, there is office work involved, too, but the point is, they get outside. I am cooped up all day in an office or in the lab, and it is an okay job, but the second I get out of work on Friday, I am either packing or on my way out of the city. It is lovely to be out of the city. Funny, how I used to enjoy Boston a lot more than I do. Well, I still enjoy the public transit and the being able to walk everywhere.
What hike did we do this time? Howe peak, it was a bush whack to the top, and since there is no trail, we rock-hopped up a brook for most of the way up. It was a memorial hike for Travis. He would have been happy; there were probably 15 people on the summit. The stars at night were also amazing. We saw about 8 shooting stars and a few of them were across the whole sky, the kind you only see during a meteor shower. Wow.
I live for weekends. I am beginning to change my mind about grad school and I think I would like to travel or hike or climb or sail or live a little instead. It is thundering right now and I love it.
